Training Activities

A key component of the project is to train staff about tobacco addiction and treatment. The UMass ATTOC team provided Grand Rounds training during the visit to Chengdu (Dr. Ziedonis and Wong) and informal training throughout the visit. Training included on assessment, treatment planning, pharmacotherapy, and psychosocial / counseling approaches. Also training occurred on the ATTOC model and organizational change. This website provides examples from the Grand Rounds and an overview of the Mental Health Center by Dr. Li Tao.

In addition, Dr. Wang Xue at the West China Hospital in Chengdu is an expert in tobacco addiction and has been trained by the China Medical Board (CMB) to provide training on this topic throughout China. She continues to provide training at the site. The UMass team is providing additional support and information.

Grand Rounds in China

We provide a range of trainings, including grand rounds during our on-site visit. Led by Doug M. Ziedonis, MD, MPH, chair of our department, the ATTOC in China team visited Sichuan University’s West China Hospital in April, 2010. As part of the on-site training, Dr. Ziedonis gave grand rounds presentation to the doctors, nurses, and other staff at the Mental Health Center. Below are some unedited video clips of the grand round.
