Populations
UMass Medical School’s Commonwealth Medicine division, dedicated to health care consulting, provides services to a wide range of populations. The teams in the Center for Health Policy and Research offer in-depth policy analysis and translational research to help public health and managed care organizations develop and implement best practices. We design multi-faceted approaches to issues faced by particular groups, and we take into account the financial, cultural, and practical barriers to implementing those ideas.
Our Commonwealth Medicine division’s research extends to the following groups:
- Children and families, on issues of mental health, developmental disabilities, education programs, and adoption and foster care policy
- Elders, on topics of mental health and long-term care policy and services
- Medicaid members, to provide policy analysis, program evaluation, program development and management, and more
- People with disabilities, in the areas of health, safety, and employment policy for people with mental, physical, and developmental disabilities
- People with mental illness, on issues facing children and seniors, as well as people with co-occurring disorders such as substance use and chronic disease
- People with substance use disorders, to research co-occurring disorders, as well as buprenorphine therapy
