Health Policy Research
The policy experts in UMass Medical School’s Commonwealth Medicine division have dedicated themselves to researching and improving health care in Massachusetts and beyond. Bringing years of experience to the process, our policy teams provide clients with the following:
- Data analysis to determine the need, scope, capacity, and cost of a new or existing policy
- Literature reviews and research analyses to identify best policy practices
- Analysis of the impact that federal and state laws, regulations, and judicial decisions have on new or existing health care policies
- Qualitative and translational policy research
- Identification of statutory or regulatory changes needed to implement a health care policy
- Assessment of policies effects on specific populations
The research staff in our Center for Health Policy and Research develops and implements clinical best practices and measures the impact and effectiveness of health policies and programs. Our Center for Health Law and Economics evaluates the extent of policies’ cost-effectiveness, along with their level of compliance with guidelines.
