Professional Development

As demographics change, cultures shift and medicine advances, health care and human service professionals must continually enhance their skills and knowledge to meet the evolving needs of the community. Commonwealth Medicine offers several innovative continuing education and certificate programs designed to better prepare health and human services professionals to care for the most vulnerable populations.

The Center for Health Policy and Research's Center for Clinical Communication and Performance Outcomes (CCCPO) conducts innovative training programs for physicians and other health care providers to help them better communicate with patients. Through group workshops, one-on-one consultations and web-based assessment tools, CCCPO works with health care providers to improve both their clinical performance and the overall care they provide to patients.

Our unique understanding of Medicaid and other public programs allows us to provide comprehensive training services to individuals working within the state system, as well as the many community based agencies with which we work. For example, through our Massachusetts Medicaid (MassHealth) Training Forum, health care workers and advocates are kept up-to-date on the latest regulatory developments and are better equipped to do their jobs. In turn, MassHealth members benefit from working with well-informed, highly trained professionals, who can best help them navigate the complex system.

Each of our professional development programs- many offering CEUs, CME or college credits - furthers our goal of ensuring a skilled, passionate, culturally diverse health care workforce. Along with our established programs, we are able to offer customized professional development solutions to public sector and non-profit clients, by creating tailored curricula and programs. Our capabilities are enhanced by the resources of the University of Massachusetts Medical School and are adaptable to meet the unique needs of each client.
