HIV/AIDS

More than a quarter century has passed since HIV and AIDS was first reported, and today providing comprehensive training and education to health care and human service providers in the field is no less critical. Commonwealth Medicine, through the University of Massachusetts Medical School, is home to one of the nation's leading HIV/AIDS training and education centers, serving providers across six states.

The Center for Health Policy and Research's New England AIDS Education Training Center (NEAETC) is committed to equipping the full spectrum of providers with the skills and information they need to provide state-of-the-art, high quality and comprehensive care to individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Programs are administered in a variety of formats to professionals with varying levels of experience and expertise, and are conducted in different geographic and workplace settings.

NEAETC is a collaborative project, featuring a consortium of community-based AIDS-service organizations, multicultural training facilities, community health centers and peer-led agencies. This breadth of resources allows the Center to offer training and education programs to providers ranging from case managers to migrant health workers, representing organizations as diverse as community health centers, mental health agencies and housing programs.
