Translation / Interpreter Services
Clear communication between public health agencies, providers and consumers is a necessity in providing high quality health care. When consumers whose primary language is not English don't fully comprehend the information they are given, the quality of their care can be compromised.Commonwealth Medicine's Language Link Multicultural Communication Services program provides outstanding translation and interpreter services to a wide range of clients within the public health care system, including government agencies; hospitals, health centers and HMOs; community-based organizations; and academic institutions. Our unique translation process ensures accuracy by incorporating a multi-tiered review process. Every translation includes the participation of a team of translators, editors, proofreaders and quality control specialists.
Language Link's multi-cultural project managers deliver culturally and linguistically appropriate materials, such as health promotion and behavioral health materials, legal documents and business correspondence, and government publications. Each piece is specifically designed for target audiences. Linguistic teams are assigned to projects according to their areas of expertise to ensure appropriate terminology and context.
In addition, we provide on-site interpreter services in more than 10 languages. For clients seeking to improve their own capabilities, the Center for Health Policy and Research's Office of Community Programs offers a comprehensive Medical Interpreter Training program for health professionals, as well as cross-cultural training programs.
