Dates: 6/1/2011 - 2/28/2014

Abstract: For the primary aim, VDW data will be used to evaluate relative contributions of the various failures in the process of screening (failure to initiate screening, failure of adherence to regular screening, failure to undergo diagnostic testing and failure of screening tests) to late-stage CRC diagnosis according to SES. For the secondary aim, semi-structured interviews will be conducted with patients diagnosed with late-stage CRC to more deeply explore the reasons for delayed CRC diagnosis including the potential role of pre-morbid psychological distress in affecting the use of CRC screening in these patients. Participants will be asked to share their experiences, thoughts and feelings about the health care delivery system.
