|Stephen Jones presented with Faculty Award

Stephen Jones, PhD, was honored by the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences with a Faculty Award- for outstanding contribution to curricular development. Steve was presented this award by GSBS Dean, Anthony Carruthers, at the Educational Recognition Awards on April 12, 2011.
In his remarks about Steve, Dean Carruthers stated "Following his arrival at UMMS in 1997, Dr. Jones organized and taught in an advanced topics course called Experimental Approaches to Gene Therapy, which was offered in 1998. He subsequently organized and taught in an advanced topics course called Tumor Biology, which he offered in even numbered years from 2000 – 2006 and which was the basis for the Cancer Biology course currently offered by the Cancer Biology Program. This past year, he organized and is currently teaching in an advanced topics course called Cell Signal Transduction. Dr. Jones also developed the GSBS core course lectures on Mouse Genetics, which he has presented every year since 1999. He also developed the GSBS core course lectures on Tumor Suppressors, which were presented from 1999-2006 (and possibly more recently) and on Human Cancer, which has been presented since 2009. Dr. Jones has actively and consistently developed curricula on novel and timely topics for the benefit of GSBS students throughout his tenure at UMMS. We thank Dr. Jones and honor him with the Faculty Award, from the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences."
