The UMass Memorial Medical Center offers comprehensive medical and surgical cardiac care services — from diagnosis to treatment to rehabilitation — for adults. We also provide specialized evaluation and care for children with heart problems. In addition to our inpatient Coronary Care Unit and Cardiac Intensive Care Unit for surgical patients, UMass Memorial has extensive cardiac laboratories and outpatient facilities.

In addition, the medical staff of UMass Memorial is providing cutting-edge care utilizing ventricular assist devices for a bridge to transplant for patients with end-stage heart disease, and is regularly performing off-pump or “beating heart” bypass surgery. UMass Memorial is the region’s leading provider of cardiac catheterization utilizing a recently constructed state-of-the-art Catheterization Lab.

The multidisciplinary team of physicians and staff are dedicated to the holistic treatment of coronary disease encompassing the patient’s behavior, lifestyle and medical needs. Our cardiac team combines the skills of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, interventionalists, electrophysiologists, critical care nurses, nurse educators, nutrition and behavioral counselors, and other professionals to ensure the highest standard of patient care possible.
