BMP2009Nicholas Willis, Marcus Noyes and Trevor Morin were several of the honorees on a picture perfect Commencement afternoon on the UMMS Campus green. Dr. Willis delivered the GSBS Student Commencement Address. He and Dr. Noyes were co-awardees of this year’s Most Outstanding GSBS Thesis. Dr. Willis’ thesis investigated the link between DNA repair, cell cycle checkpoints, and cancer. Dr. Noyes’ thesis explored ways to accurately and quickly predict which DNA sequences a transcription factor is able to bind to in a genome. Trevor Morin, a UMMS and UMASS-Boston alumnus, received the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Chancellor’s Award, which is given in recognition of academic excellence and outstanding involvement in community, professional and GSBS activities. Dr. Morin’s thesis utilized chemical approaches to dissect the structure and function of cardiac potassium channels. Dr. Morin has continued his long-term association with UMASS, now as a Ph. D. Scientist at Mass Biologic Laboratories.

The BMP department congratulates all of our recent Ph. D. graduates.
