James Potts, CPHR third year student, received a runner-up Young Investigator award and $250 for his poster presentation at the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH). The 57th ASTMH was held in New Orleans in the fall of 2008, attended by more than 3,000 scientists, clinicians, and students. Potts’ poster, “Classification and Regression Tree (CART) Analysis Using Clinical Laboratory Variables Known to be Associated with Dengue to Establish Early Disease Classification” was selected to be defended orally to three ASTMH judges. His poster was ranked second among 21 student posters in his review group, ranking it among the top 10 student posters out of 125 student posters at the meeting.
