Schizophrenia/Schizoaffective Disorder
METS Study: Metformin in the Treatment of Antipsychotic-Induced Weight Gain in Schizophrenia
Patients must:
- be age 18-65 years old
- have a diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder
- have weight problems
- be currently taking one or a combination of two antipsychotic medications
- Patients will be asked to give blood samples
- Patients’ participation will include 11 study visits over a 17 week period
- Qualifying patients will receive financial compensation and study-related evaluations at no cost

CAMP Study: Comparison of Antipsychotics for Metabolic Problems
Patients must be:
- age 18 or older
- have a diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder
- currently taking only one of the following antipsychotic medications: Risperdal, Seroquel or Zyprexa
- have problems with weight or cholesterol
- Patients will be asked to give blood samples
- Patient’s participation will include 11 study visits over a 25 week period.
- Qualifying patients will receive financial compensation as well as antipsychotic medication and study-related evaluations at no cost.

PSY 1005 Study for patients with Schizophrenia or Schizoaffective Disorder/
Safety and Tolerability of 3 Month Formulation of Paliperidone Palmitate
Patients must be:
- age 18 or older
- have a diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder
- Patients will have a complete physical exam, as well as lab tests including blood tests, urine tests, drug tests ECG (electrocardiogram) test, pregnancy test for women of childbearing age.
- Patient’s participation will include 32 study visits in a 53 to 58 week period. -
Qualifying patients will receive financial compensation as well as study medication and study-related evaluations at no cost.
