On May 3rd and 4th, 2007 the Department of Cancer Biology celebrated its fifth year of operations with a retreat on the shores of Maine. The Department retreat provided an opportunity for faculty, Post-Doctoral Associates, Research Associates, and Graduate Students a chance to interact in a collaborative environment to exchange new ideas, provide feedback ongoing research projects, and comment on past activities.
An overarching goal was to bring each of the lab members together to build on collaborative endeavors to meet the long-term objectives of the Department that include:
- Fostering and expanding the mentoring, education and training in experimental aspects of the Department
- Contributing to the clinical and translational objectives of the UMass Memorial Cancer Center
- Cooperating and developing a synergistic environment with other academic Departments and Medical School constituencies
