Anne T. Kane, RN, PhDS
Office: UMass Medical School S1-853
Areas of Focus:
Philosophy of science; philosophy of nursing; and health policy and program initiatives affecting young families living on low income, particularly state health policy.
Anne earned her PhD in Nursing from Boston College, and later completed a postdoctoral fellowship in philosophy at the Lonergan Institute there.
Anne’s community health nursing experience with childbearing families in the inner city prompted her dissertation research on mothers and infants in Medicaid managed care. After completing her doctorate, she examined state Medicaid health policy as a Senior Project Manager at the University of Massachusetts Medical School Center for Health Policy; and later, as an internal consultant to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services. Currently, she focuses on the philosophical bases for nursing and interdisciplinary knowledge development about human health.
