The UMass Medicine Cancer Center of Excellence

boasts more than 100 clinicians, surgeons and researchers who are dedicated to eradicating, reducing and preventing suffering caused by cancer. In Massachusetts in 2012, over 38,000 new patients were diagnosed with cancer and over 25,000 survived. We treat our patients and their loved ones with compassion and commitment, from prevention and diagnosis to treatment, survivorship and palliative care, and offer new opportunities to bring clinical research and trials directly to our patients.

The UMass Medicine Cancer Center of Excellence treats thousands of adult and pediatric patients every year for all types of cancer; breast, colon, pancreatic, liver, thyroid, prostate and more. Patients have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials using the latest research. The collaborative spirit among physicians, scientists, clinical investigators, nurses and allied health professionals helps ensure expert care for all of our patients. Cancer is the second most common cause of death in the United States and the UMass Medicine Cancer Center of Excellence continues ground breaking research to improve the lives of Massachusetts residents.
