Ziedonis, D.Douglas M. Ziedonis, MD, MPH is Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and UMass Memorial Medical Center. Dr. Ziedonis is an internationally recognized leader in co-occurring mental illness and addiction, in particular tobacco dependence. He was an advisor to President Bush’s New Freedom Commission on Mental Health and serves on a variety of advisory groups / study sections for SAMHSA, NIDA, NIMH, VA Health Care, American Psychiatric Association, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. His current research grants are on Addressing Tobacco through Organizational Change (ATTOC) in Addiction Settings, Co-Occurring Disorder Program Capabilities, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, and Tobacco Dependence Behavioral Therapy for Individuals with Schizophrenia.
