Clinical Research Ethics
During the past year the leadership of UMMS and UMMHC undertook the strategic planning for a Center for Bioethics based on the UMass Worcester Campus and the recruitment of the leader for the center. The institution is committed to getting this Center up and running in 2012, as we identify and support a Director and three additional senior faculty members. The mission of the Center is to be a transformative force in the Medical School, the University as a whole and the health care system by promoting and sustaining a culture of ethical excellence that will have an impact on the Commonwealth and beyond.
The core faculty of the Center will engage in scholarly activities, and be the hub for research into contemporary ethics issues and challenges. The faculty will deliver thought-provoking education programs to the entire UMass community, provide consultation services to researchers, our compliance committees and to the clinical system, as well as participate in the medical school and graduate schools (Nursing and GSBS) bioethics training.
