Before you make a decision about your future career in medicine, biomedical sciences or biotechnology, we invite you to take part in one of our outreach programs to explore the real world of medical and scientific careers. Intended for high school students and undergraduate college students, our programs will open your eyes to many interesting health care career options.
Programs for undergraduate college students
Summer Undergraduate Research Program
Program Dates: May 25, 2025 - August 1, 2025 (10 weeks)
You’ll gain hands-on laboratory research experience with an investigator serving as a mentor, role model and advisor in this non-credit,10-week program. You’ll gain in-depth exposure to current biomedical research and create career-building connections with researchers, post docs, graduate students and peers. As a summer research fellow, you’ll receive a $6,000 stipend. Travel and local housing are paid for and arranged by the program. This program is for U.S. citizens or permanent residents. You need to be at least 18 years of age to apply. The Summer Undergraduate Research Program is funded by the National Institute of Health and UMass Chan Provost's Office Summer Undergraduate Research Experience. Learn more.
Summer Enrichment Program
Program Dates: Sunday, May 25, 2025 - Friday, June 20, 2025 (four weeks)
Are you interested in pursuing a career in the health profession? Attend this tuition-free, four-week residential program to improve your qualifications and competitive standing for admission to professional, graduate and/or medical school. Intended for undergraduate sophomores and juniors who graduated from a Massachusetts high school or who attend one of our partner universities, this program is open to U.S. citizens or those with permanent resident status. Programs for high school students
High School Health Careers Program
Program Dates: Sunday, June 29, 2025 - Friday, July 25, 2025 (four weeks)
This four-week summer, tuition-free, residential program offers current high school sophomores and juniors unique opportunities to learn about the broad spectrum of health care and science professions. Open to Massachusetts residents, this program is designed to help improve academic study and communication skills. Learn more.
Worcester Pipeline Collaborative
This program encourages, educates and challenges traditionally under-represented high school students for success in the biomedical, biotechnology research and health care professions. You’ll participate in mentoring, job shadowing, tutoring, clinicals, research internships, after-school science programs, visiting scientist programs and a speaker's bureau. Students also become academically prepared to pursue health professions in Massachusetts. Learn more.
