Join us for cafecito, cuentos y communidad (coffee, storytelling and community), an intimate conversation with Latinx students, faculty and staff at UMass Chan Medical School. Over a warm cup of cafecito, dive into meaningful conversations about the experiences of Latinx individuals in the STEM, health care, and academic spaces. This gathering offers a unique opportunity to build community through shared experiences and storytelling. Brain Health Equity Awareness & Resource Fair

Diversity Summit

Event Description
The Diversity Summit is an annual forum that gives a comprehensive overview of UMass Chan's diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and motivates the community to move forward in expanding its efforts. The program will begin with a poster session where members of the UMass Chan community will present the transformative work they are doing related to diversity, equity and inclusion. The poster session will be followed by a dynamic program featuring speakers Marcus Lambert, PhD, associate vice president for research at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University; and Su Joun, principal at Diversity@Workplace Consulting Group LLC.
S.P.A.R.K stands for:
•System Level Change: Infuse DEIB practices across services, processes, policies, and organizational culture.
•Practical Tools: Develop and implement practical DEI tools.
•Address Needs: Amplify and unify the voices of marginalized populations through direct service and advocacy.
•Research: Create and utilize evidence-based DEIB solutions.
•Keep Funding: Keep and increase funding resources for greater financial sustainability.
S.P.A.R.K emphasizes integrating DEIB principles into every aspect of an organization, from services and processes to policies and culture, ensuring a comprehensive approach to systemic change. The framework advocates for the development and implementation of practical DEIB tools that facilitate real-world application. It also focuses on amplifying the voices of marginalized communities through direct services and advocacy, creating an inclusive environment. Additionally, S.P.A.R.K underscores the importance of utilizing evidence-based research to inform DEIB strategies and maintaining and increasing funding to ensure long-term sustainability and impact.
