Pollination Association

UMass Chan Medical School is now a certified Bee Campus through the Bee Campus USA initiative of the Xerces Society.

The program seeks to create and enhance pollinator habitats on campuses around the country by increasing the abundance of native plants and providing nest sites.

A group of students, faculty and staff launched this initiative and named their group the Pollination Association, because while bees are essential, there are many other important pollinators that need more habitat.

Achieving certified pollinator status is an action item in the “Grounds Management” section of UMass Chan’s Sustainability and Climate Action plan. The goal is to increase biodiversity and community access to the green spaces on campus.
