The safety and welfare of participants in human subjects research, the compliance with regulations related to the involvement of animals in research and in working with biohazardous materials has always been the foundation of research conducted at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School. Whether funded by federal agencies, industrial sponsors or institutional funds, all research projects receive careful review and consideration by the appropriate institutional representatives and committees.
