The Chancellor's Award for Advancing Institutional Excellence in Civility recognizes an individual or group that best exemplifies the values described in the UMass Chan Civility Statement, which calls for individuals to conduct themselves with integrity, courtesy and respect toward fellow members of the UMass Chan community; hold themselves accountable for their actions; and promote an environment where individuals feel safe and supported. The Chancellor's Award for Advancing Institutional Excellence in Diversity Award recognizes an individual or group exemplifying the UMass Chan Diversity Statement, which calls for individuals to work toward building an inclusive culture characterized by civility and respect; increasing numbers of underrepresented groups in student, faculty and staff positions; improving the cultural competence of the workforce through diversity education and programming; and advancing health equity by making a significant impact on reducing disparities through research, service and practice.

Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Mentoring (est. 2016)

The Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Mentoring honors a UMass Chan faculty member who exemplifies the role of and demonstrates the qualities associated with an outstanding mentor. Mentorship is a foundational element of the medical, nursing and science professions, and a strong culture of mentoring is essential to the success of UMass Chan and our rich educational and research environment. This award will celebrate the fundamental importance of mentoring at all levels (peer mentoring, trainee mentoring, student mentoring) within our academic community and across the health and science professions.
